Hardcore followers of Jet Li might recognize THE WARLORDS as a film that came out in China a couple of years ago. Yes, it’s the same film, but now it looks like it will finally get a US release. The film stars Jet Li, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro as three warriors that become entangled in political deceit in 1860’s China. It is directed by Peter Chan and is due to hit the US on April 22nd.

Historical, Chinese epics are hit and miss, but one thing that’s guaranteed is that you’ll get some great visuals and cool fight scenes.

Set in the midst of war and political upheaval during the Taiping Rebellion of the 1860s, WARLORDS stars Jet Li as General Pang, who barely survives a brutal massacre of his fellow soldiers by playing dead, and joins a band of bandits led by Er Hu (Andy Lau) and Wu Yang (Takeshi Kaneshiro).

Andy Lau is a 'monk' for just three days

HONG KONG superstar Andy Lau has become a 'monk' at an unidentified temple for three days.

The artiste went to the temple to prepare for his latest movie The New Shaolin Temple, directed by Benny Chan.

The US$29mil (S$40.6 million) production movie also features Jackie Chan, actor-singer Nicholas Tse and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing.

In preparation for his role as a Shaolin monk in the movie, Lau shaved his head to experience the life of a monk.

"I did nothing but only chanting. I did not speak a word in three days.

"I feel that I am more energetic after that," he said.

Hong Kong's Ming Bao reported that Benny Chan has also invited two Shaolin masters to teach Lau kungfu.

The Shaolin masters had taught Lau the Seven Star Boxing, one of the popular Shaolin martial arts focused on fist fighting.

Lau has also made it a point to meditate for 45 minutes daily.
